Story Time - two

Hi peeps! Let's see... Today our friend, Bryan gave us his short film script. It's really good, so I thought about sharing it here. A note : the script is adapted from “Gift of The Magi” story. Ta-da!! Enjoy :)

INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

          DEWI takes her money-box on the table and takes out all the
          money inside (5 sheet of 2.000 Rupiah). She counts it, puts
          the money back into the box, and cries.

                              DEWI
                         (crying)
                    Oh no.. I don't have enough money to
                    buy a gift for my husband. Tomorrow
                    will be Christmas. What can I do
                    know?

          DEWI sits on the sofa, dries her eyes, and laments her fate.
          Later, she stands near the window and looks out unhappily.

                              DEWI
                         (looking at the sky)
                    I want to make my husband happy. I
                    really want to buy the watch that my
                    husband wanted since last year, but I
                    can't do that. I had been saving
                    money for months, but it was in vain.
                    How unlucky I am.

          DEWI sits back on the sofa. She still thinking a way to buy
          the watch.

                              DEWI
                         (guessing)
                    Hmm.. What can I possibly do now to
                    get extra money? How about stealing
                    other people's wallet? No, no, no..
                    It's not a good idea. I will get
                    beaten by them. How about begging at
                    a mall? No, no, no.. It's also not a
                    good idea. I will be kicked out by
                    the mall's security. Hmm.. How
                    difficult it is to get money
                    instantly.

          DEWI suddenly gets an idea.

                              DEWI
                         (surprised)
                    Aha! I get an idea. How about playing
                    the roullete game at Madame Sinta's
                    casino. Madame Sinta is a woman who
                    is friendly, polite, honest, and
                    humble. I can possibly double my
                    money by winning the roulette game.
                    Yes! Let's go!

          DEWI rushes off to the casino. She puts on her jacket and her
          old brown hat. With a quick motion and brightness still in
          her eyes, she dances out the door and down the street. She is
          very happy.

          EXT. STREET - DAY

                              DEWI
                         (walking happily)
                    La.. Lala.. Lala.. I'm the happiest
                    girl in town! La.. Lala.. Lala..

          DEWI stops at a sign that read: “Madame Sinta’s Casino. The
          Heaven of Money.” She enters the casino.

          INT. CASINO - DAY

          DEWI opens the door. She goes to the receptionist desk to see
          Madame Sinta.

                              DEWI
                    Excuse me Madame Sinta, do you still
                    have the roulette game which can
                    double my money?

                              MADAME SINTA
                    Yes, I do. Take your jacket and hat
                    off, and enjoy the game! I will take
                    you to the machine and explain to you
                    the instructions.

          MADAME SINTA takes DEWI to the roulette machine. Then, MADAME
          SINTA explains all the instructions. DEWI listens to it with
          a happiness and brightness still in her eyes .

                              MADAME SINTA
                    Here is the machine. Now, please
                    listen to me. The instructions are
                    simple. First of all, you have to
                    give the money that you want to
                    double to me now.

          DEWI gives all the money (10.000 Rupiah) she has to MADAME
          SINTA.

                              DEWI
                         (giving the money)
                    Here is all the money I bring today.

                              MADAME SINTA
                    Ok. To play this game, you have to
                    spin this wheel just for once. There
                    are two types of reward, zonk which
                    means you lose and double which means
                    you win. If you win, your money will
                    become one hundred thousand rupiah.
                    If you lose, you will not get any
                    money. Your money becomes mine. Do
                    you still want to play?

                              DEWI
                    Yes, I do. I want to make my husband
                    happy on Christmas Day.

                              MADAME SINTA
                    Ok, spin the wheel now!

          DEWI spins the wheel. Sadly, she gets a zonk.

                              MADAME SINTA
                    I'm sorry, you get a Zonk. I'm sorry
                    to say that your money now becomes
                    mine. I'm so sorry about that.

                              DEWI
                         (crying sadly)
                    Oh no.. My money is gone. What a
                    terrible disaster for me. Can't I get
                    my money back, Madame? Please help
                    me! I really appreciate your help if
                    you can give my money back.

                              MADAME SINTA
                         (saying sadly)
                    I'm sorry young lady, it's just a
                    game. I already told you about the
                    rules, but you still wanted to play.
                    You can't get your money back now
                    otherwise you will end up in the
                    police station because gambling is
                    supposed to be prohibited by the law
                    in Indonesia. I'm sorry.

          DEWI leaves the casino and goes straight home with tears.
          Then, she sits on the floor, cries loudly, and throws all the
          items inside the room everywhere.

          INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

                              DEWI
                         (crying loudly)
                    What a terrible disaster that
                    happened to me in the casino. Now
                    it's impossible for me to buy a gift
                    for my husband. What can I do know?

                                                              FADE OUT

          EXT. STREET - DAY

          BUDI walks down the street. He has just gotten his salary. He
          is very happy and shows the money. He goes to the store to
          buy a gift for DEWI.

                              BUDI
                         (walking happily)
                    Yeah! I've just gotten my salary from
                    my boss; two hundred thousand rupiah!
                    Now, I want to buy a gift for Dewi. I
                    know what is the perfect gift for
                    her! It must be the beautiful blue
                    gown! I have to go to Matahari Dress
                    Store to buy it.

          BUDI goes to Matahari Dress Store cheerfully and buys the
          beautiful blue gown that DEWI wants to wear since last year.

          INT. MATAHARI DRESS STORE - DAY

                              BUDI
                         (holding the gown)
                    How much is this gown?

                              MATAHARI STAFF
                    It's eighty thousand Rupiah, sir.

                              BUDI
                    Ok, I will buy this one.

          BUDI goes the the cashier and pays the gown. Then, he goes to
          the minimarket to buy some snacks for dinner. After selecting
          some snacks, he pays the bill at the cashier

          INT. MINIMARKET - DAY

                              BUDI
                    How much is the bill?

                              MINIMARKET STAFF
                    The total is one hundred and twenty
                    thousand Rupiah, sir. Please pay it
                    in cash, sir.

                              BUDI
                         (giving the money to the staff)
                    Ok, here is the money.

                              MINIMARKET STAFF
                    Thank you, sir. Please come back
                    soon.

          BUDI leaves the minimarket. He goes back home.

                                                              FADE OUT

          INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

          BUDI opens the door and sees DEWI cries on the floor. He
          stops inside the door, as immovable as a dog smelling a bird.
          His eyes are fixed upon DEWI. He's surprised.

                              BUDI
                         (surprised)
                    What?? Dewi, why are you crying? I've
                    a gift for you. Look! Look! It's your
                    favorite gown that you wanted to wear
                    since last year. I also bring some
                    snacks. Cheer up!

                              DEWI
                         (saying sadly with tears)
                    No, Budi. I can't do that for now.

                              BUDI
                    But why? I have already done my best
                    to please you.

                              DEWI
                    I have a terrible disaster today.

                              BUDI
                    What kind of disaster? How terrible
                    is it?

                              DEWI
                    It's the most terrible disaster I
                    ever had in my life! I just lose all
                    my money, my saving is useless!

                              BUDI
                         (surprised)
                    What the.. How come you lost all your
                    money?

                              DEWI
                    I play the roulette game at Madame
                    Sinta's casino and I lose the game.
                    My money becomes hers now.

                              BUDI
                    Now you don't have any money? Even a
                    hundred Rupiah?

                              DEWI
                    No! Definitely no! I don't have any
                    money in my money-box. I'm the
                    poorest girl in town now.

                              BUDI
                         (haltingly)
                    Oh no.. Now, all our money has gone
                    only to buy a gift for Christmas.
                    What can we do now? We can't survive
                    if we don't have money

                              DEWI
                    I don't know! How unlucky we are!

          Suddenly BUDI has a heart attack. His body begin convulsing.
          Dewi panics.

                              BUDI
                         (holding his chest)
                    Aww! Aww! Aww!

                              DEWI
                         (surprisingly touching Budi's
                         body)
                    Oh no..! My husband! My husband! Hang
                    on, my husband! Don't die now! I will
                    call the ambulance right now. Hold
                    on!

          DEWI immediately grabs the phone and presses 108 to call the
          ambulance, but it's the wrong number.

                              108 OPERATOR (V.O)
                    Hello there! May I help you?

                              DEWI
                    Hello. Do you have an ambulance for
                    me right now?

                              108 OPERATOR (V.O)
                    I'm sorry. We are not a hospital.
                    We're the telephone operator.

                              DEWI
                    Ok, then. Thank you.

          DEWI presses 911 to call the ambulance, but it's the wrong
          number.

                              911 OPERATOR (V.O)
                    Hello! Do you need an ambulance?

                              DEWI
                    Yes! I need it right now! Plese send
                    it to my address. You can look it at
                    your GPS system.

                              911 OPERATOR (V.O)
                    I'm sorry. There isn't any available
                    ambulance because your place is too
                    far. We only serve America.

                              DEWI
                    Ok, then. Thank you.

          DEWI presses 500600 to call the ambulance, but it's the wrong
          number

                              500600 OPERATOR (V.O)
                    Hello there! PHD Pizza, may I help
                    you?

                              DEWI
                    Do you have any available ambulance
                    for me right now?

                              500600 OPERATOR (V.O)
                    I'm sorry. You dial the wrong number.
                    We only sell pizza.

                              DEWI
                    Ok. Thank you.

          DEWI presses 5600000 to call the ambulance, but it's the
          wrong number again.

                              5600000 (V.O)
                    SuaraSurabaya, Hello? With who I'm
                    talking right now?

                              DEWI
                    Hello. I'm Dewi. Do you have any
                    available ambulance for me right now?

                              5600000 (V.O)
                    For an ambulance, please call 118.
                    Can you tell us about your accident,
                    maam?

                              DEWI
                    Ok, thank you very much.

          Finally, DEWI gets the right number. She presses 118.

                              118 OPERATOR (V.O)
                    Hello. Do you need an ambulance right
                    now?

                              DEWI
                    Yes, quickly please! My husband can't
                    take this more for any longer. Please
                    find my address in your GPS system.

                              118 OPERATOR (V.O)
                    Yes, I just find your address.
                    Ambulance is on the way right now.
                    It's gonna take approximately 10
                    minutes.

                              DEWI
                    Ok, thank you very much for the
                    ambulance.

          A PARAMEDIC CREW enters DEWI's living room. Sadly, Budi has
          already passed away.

                              PARAMEDIC CREW
                         (looking for signs of life by
                         shaking Budi's body)
                    I'm sorry to say this, maam. Your
                    husband has already passed away. I
                    feel sorry for that. Please accept my
                    deepest condolences, maam.

                              DEWI
                         (shaking Budi's body violently
                         and crying loudly)
                    Budi! Budi! My husband! Wake up! Wake
                    up! You're still alive, aren't you?
                    Why do you remain silence?

          BUDI remain silence. DEWI desperately cries. Eventually, DEWI
          dies too.

                              DEWI
                         (crying desperately with
                         holding the gown)
                    Budi! Budi! I don't believe this!
                    Budi has passed away! I can't stand
                    this anymore, I want to die!

          DEWI dies in the chest of her husband, still holding the
          gown. The PARAMEDIC CREW covers the bodies with the
          newspaper. The story ends.

                                                              FADE OUT

Hi folks! This blog is quite abandoned since we don't need it anymore. I know this is so random and not related to our blog, but I just wanna share Connie's work here. A note : this story is adapted from “Ransom of The Red Chief” story. Enough typing I guess, here it is. Tadaa, enjoy :)!

The Ransom of Queen B

My friend, Jess Hunter and I lived in a small house in Surabaya, Indonesia. My parents lived far away from me. Jess’ dad died 2 years after Jess’ parents were separated and her mom suffered from mental disorders and was taken to a psychiatric hospital.

We used to be successful workers. After many years of hard working, we got really tired of our busyness. We underestimated everything, even the little things. We ignored some of our customers; we didn’t come to work for days and did many more irresponsible things. One day, our company went bankrupt. We closed our company. In the year 2014, we owed a guy named Ash Buck, the most well known mafia in the country, a hundred million rupiahs. Jess spent all our money to pay for her mom’s hospital charges. Jess told me that we should borrow a hundred million rupiahs from that guy. We didn’t know that we had to pay our debt in 2 months or he would hunt us and kill us. He didn’t even tell us before. Well, there’s nothing we could do.

We had nothing left. We had sold everything we had and we moved to a smaller and cheaper house. Jess told me to find a job on my phone. I searched for a job but nothing suited us. I don’t know where this idea of kidnapping came from but I told Jess anyway. Jess agreed and she said that we should kidnap the child of Lizzie Madsen. Lizzie is a billionaire. We thought that she’d pay a ransom of a hundred million rupiahs to get her daughter back.

We searched all night to find Lizzie Madsen’s address. We found her address. Jess wrote the address and we went to sleep. The next day, we went to Lizzie’s house. We saw Lizzie go away from her house, leaving her daughter alone at home.

“This is a good opportunity, Skye!” Jess said. She grabbed my hand and ran into the house.

We sneaked in and saw the little girl playing with her dolls.

“Hey there! What’s your name little girl? By the way, cute dolls! Hey listen, I have lots of dolls for you! Want to come with us? We have some sweets for you too!” I said.

The little girl tilted her head, “I’m Beth, Um… Who are you? What’s your name? I don’t know you, mommy said that I’m not allowed to talk to strangers!”

“Uh… I’m Skye, Skye Horvath. This is my friend, Jess Hunter.” I said.

Jess kneeled and looked at the girl. “I’m your mom’s best friend! She sent me here because she won’t be back for days. Your mom said that you should come with us”

Jess made the little girl believe. Well, the plan went smoothly. We walked back home. At night, Jess told me about the little girl.

Jess frowned, “Skye, let me tell you something, I don’t know how to explain this but, that girl, Beth is acting so weird, like she has been possessed by an evil spirit!” 

 “Huh? What do you mean? What do you mean like she has been possessed by an evil spirit?” I said.

I was very confused and I stared at her for a moment.

 “I mean, I… I mean like.. She slammed a table, she… She kept shouting and hitting me!” Jess said.

 “What did she say, Jess?” I asked, handing her a cup of warm tea.

She mimicked the little girl and said, “She said… Behold! I’m the Queen B and I will kill you all hahaha! I am the new ruler of this house! Bow before me!”  

“Jess, She’s just a little girl. She just wants to have some fun, you know.” I said with a sigh.

Jess didn’t respond to what I had just said. I looked at the little girl and she was asleep. I walked into my bedroom and I slept next to Jess. The next morning was total chaos.

“Ah! Skye, help me!” Jess shouted, trying to wake me up. I was sleeping and I thought that I was dreaming so I ignored her screams.

“Skye! I’m begging you please help me!” Jess shouted again.

“Oh, what is it Jess?” I said, getting up from my bed. “What the…”

I saw Beth holding scissors.

She said, “Shut up! I will slit your throat if you don’t.”

“Beth, hey, do you want to play dolls with me? Leave my friend Jess alone.” I said, trying to take the scissors out of her hand.

Beth and I played dolls for about an hour. I went away to buy some food. I left Beth and Jess at home. When I went back home, I saw Beth laughing and running around. I had a really bad feeling about it.

“Beth, I brought you something to eat! Um, where’s Jess?” I said.

She replied, “Don’t worry, she’s having some fun in that room!”

She locked Jess in our bedroom. I quickly unlocked the door. I was shocked. My jaw dropped to the floor. Jess ran out of the room. I saw a few snakes in the room.

“Jess! How did Beth get these snakes?” I asked.

“How am I supposed to know? We have to get rid of these snakes now!” She said.

I grabbed a stick and threw them in trash. I threw the trash away as far as possible.

“You okay, guys?” I asked them.

“Yeah I’m fine. Skye, I want to discuss something with you, privately.” She said.

We went into our bedroom, locked the room and I sat next to Jess.

“All right, what do you want to say? Let me guess, is it about Beth?” I asked.

She nodded and said, “Do you think it’s worth it to kidnap this little kid? I mean, would her mom pay us money to get her back. Look, I haven’t even seen any news about a missing girl.”

“I can’t say about that Jess. Let’s just hope her mom would pay us to get Beth back.” I said.

I asked Jess to call Beth’s mom, demanding the ransom. She used private number so Lizzie wouldn’t know who was calling.

“We have your little girl, Beth. We needed a hundred million rupiahs for her return. If you pay the money, your little daughter will be returned. If you don’t, you will never see your daughter again and one day you will see your daughter’s corpse. If you agree to these terms, I’ll give you time to think. I’ll call you back before sunrise.” Jess said.

Jess called Lizzie at 4 a.m.

“I don’t know who you are and where you are. But let me tell you something, you don’t really know who I am and whom you’re messing with. I can do whatever I want and I can get you jailed or killed. My husband is a cop! Now, tell me where she is.” Lizzie said.

“Uh… hang on a second.” Jess said.

Jess told me and I was a bit scared.

I asked her, “What should we do Jess? Should we return Beth? But if we do, we will not receive a hundred million rupiahs and we can’t pay our debt to Ash Buck!”

“There’s nothing we can do Jess, if we don’t return Beth, we’ll get ourselves killed!” She said, hitting the table.

I said, “Well, if we don’t pay the debt, Ash Buck will hunt us and kill us, you know!”

“Argh! I don’t know Skye! You decide!” She moaned.

I was stressed out and I decided to return Beth back to her mom.

Jess grabbed her phone and said, “Fine. We will return your little daughter, Beth. Meet us at 14:30 at the Eax Café.”

“Good.” Lizzie said. Lizzie hung up the phone.

We brought Beth and waited outside until we saw Lizzie.

“Beth, run into the café! We’ll meet you there!” I said.

She ran into the café and met her mom. She was happy and she hugged her mom. We ran away quickly before Lizzie saw us.

We discussed paying our debt to Ash Buck. We couldn’t find any better job than being a dishwasher. I worked at a restaurant as the dishwasher. Jess worked as a waitress. I only got a hundred thousand rupiahs every day. Jess got two hundred thousand rupiahs every day. We only had 1 month and 3 weeks left to pay our debt.

The day had come. Ash sent us a text saying that we had to pay our debt that day or he would hunt as and kill us. We packed our stuff and we ran away from our house. We were walking nonstop. The next day, we saw Ash walking on the road we were walking and he was holding a knife. He ran towards us and grabbed Jess first. Jess punched Ash and escaped. We ran away as fast as we could.

“Phew… I think we’ve lost him.” I said.

“I thought I was going to die, Skye.” Jess said.

“Well, you’re not!” I said, holding her hand.

I knew Ash would try his best to kill us. We found an abandoned house and we lived there.

Finish reading? How is it? By the way her actual story wasn't like that. There are some changes because one of our friend doesn't like if her character died, idk why. I personally like the story where one of the protagonist die or disappear or whatever but oh okey.
